RASTRIYA BAL SWASTHYA KARYAKRAM, NHM, MANIPUR (RBSK)
RBSK is an innovative approach for better emerging India. Superior roots make quality plants or trees therefore the prime focus is on safeguarding the backbone of future India, which is screening of 27 crore children from 0 to 18 years mainly the 4 Ds – Defects at birth, Diseases, Deficiencies and Development Delays. This is one promise that is never to be broken, following up to tertiary level at free of cost under NHM. We need both hands to clap and with the central and state government under NHM going great guns, it is possible that this initiative would make great impact for the survival and the development of children.
In Manipur, initial process of development started in the month of August with the screening at 36 blocks. Regular screening of pre-school children from 0 to 18 years and children studying in government and government Aided schools has been part and parcel of this program. Early detection of defects, deficiencies and diseases negates mortality or expenses on delayed treatment. Support to intervene diseases and disabilities has been the motto. Early intervention services have been effective in halting further deterioration of complicated cases requiring serious Medicare and treatment. The 36 blocks located in our State comprises of 2 AYUSH Doctors, 1 ANM and 1 Pharmacist in each team for which the Training of all the team is completed. Among the 30 condition diseases, highest no. of reported cases came from Congenital heart disease (CHD), vision, dental & skin. Minor case are referred to nearby PHC but for complicated cases they are referred to DEIC which are located at IE, IW, TBL, CCpur, SPT, UKL, BPR & CDL for confirmation & further treatment. Prime target is to give follow-up referral support and treatment including surgical intervention at tertiary level to those children diagnosed with any of the 30 condition diseases and the 4Ds.
In Manipur, RBSK started in the month of August 2014 with the screening of new born at public health facilities. Regular screening of all children in the pre-school age (0-6 yrs) enrolled at Anganwadi centres(AWCs) at least twice a year and screening of all children (6-18 yrs) Studying in Government and Government aided schools.
With the immense support from RBSK Mobile Health Teams distinguished mission could be achieved with RBSK Programme, making a milestone in the history of child health care.
